This is a weird one. If you’re familiar with the Grow games like, Grow Cube, you’ll be familiar with Feed the Head.

Figure out how to feed this fellow.
Beyond that, you have to figure the rest out yourselves.
Well, so do I. As of the writing of this post I haven’t yet figured it all out. Freaking waste of time games…

I’ve always enjoyed games based around the concept of looking down into a tunnel-shaped gaming environment. It’s a cheap, but effective, way to create a 3D experience for the user.
The Missle Game 3D, by DX Interactive, is a simple but fun game in which you take the role of a missile as it hurtles down a tunnel. Of course, that in itself wouldn’t be much of a challenge, so your actual goal is to avoid the solid spinning sections of the tunnel and sneak through the randomly shaped and positioned holes.
The game isn’t all that challenging, but it kills a bit of time while you avoid doing whatever it is you’re supposed to be doing.
Oh, and the background music is perfect for getting you into the mood, too.

3rd World Farmer is definitely an interesting one. It started as a students’ project at the IT-University in Copenhagen, and considering the content, that makes perfect sense.
You play the part of a poor family attempting to extract themselves from poverty through their farm. At first you’ll have very little money with which to buy crops, but if you make it through your first planting cycle with your meager field of wheat or corn, you might have enough to dig a well or buy a chicken or two.
As the years progress, and if you are successful, you’ll upgrade to more varied crops, larger and stranger livestock, and you’ll even get involved in local politics.

You’ll learn to love them.
The game is rather in-depth for a Flash game and soon you’ll find yourself trying to perfect your strategies for optimal crop yield while avoiding marauding militias and being faced with important decisions such as allowing companies to dump toxic chemicals on your land or sending off your children to school.
With all of this to consider, you might find it easy to forget things such as your family’s age and health, though. Don’t let your farmers get sick or soon there will be no one to harvest all those yummy bushels of corn and wheat. And since eventually Mamma Farmer and Pappa Farmer will get to old to continue the farm, they’ll need to be fruitful and have lots and lots of Baby Farmers.
Also, there is a way to “win” the game, so don’t give up just because you think you’ve got the gist of the game.

I’ve always been fascinated by carnivorous plants. Always wanted to get a Venus Flytrap, but not being a plant person, I was afraid I’d kill it in no time.
Anyway, maybe that’s why I found Feed Me to be a lot of fun.

Your plant snatches a fly and swallows it.
The game reminds me a lot of the older Mario games with its world map and 2D platformer play style. The game mechanics are also interesting and challenging.

This one is a bit simpler than the last one, but we all know simple games often make the best ones. In Tilt all you have to do is flip the weight on a stick upside down and try to balance it for as long as you can.
My high score is a paltry 1531, but as long as I score higher than Nichole, I’m usually satisfied.

Very few things, that’s what.

It does run a bit slow, and the hit detection sucks, but it’s fun for a while.

I just wasted way too much time playing Dice Wars. It’s sort of fun, I guess, but it just goes on way too long.
Now that I won, though, I don’t think I’ll ever play again.

Today I spent way too much time downloading massive images from the Top 100 Hubble Space Telescope Images archive. These things are truly X-BOX HUGE.
The largest one of them all is the image pictured below. Uncompressed it comes in at a spectacular 444.73MB. I guess it’s fitting since it is described as the “Largest ever galaxy portrait.”

Eh, big, but I’ve seen bigger.
Some beautiful stuff there. And don’t let the Top 100 thing keep you from checking out the other stuff there. Lots of other good images in the full archive.

Virus 2 is a pretty fun Flash game. It’s simple to play but has deeper strategies if you look for them. Those two qualities are pretty much mandatory for a good puzzle game, aren’t they?
